The following pictures are taken outside where the blue tone is seen more clearly.

The idea for this painting came as vision over the course of a few years. The intent was strong and I felt it had to be drawn out on canvas.

An interesting thing happened while in the midst of this painting. I got an email from a person inquiring if I had done their sunset painting because it, as well, was by a ‘L’Etoile’. The framed picture was a vibrant scene of an incredible sunset over an ocean. I wish I knew who it was. Funny how life is, if you’re thinking about a subject, this one being sunsets, the subject becomes an object and appears in all kinds of ways right in front of you.

Watching the sun going down over the ocean was pretty sweet, since I usually see it going in the opposite direction in New Hampshire.

When you sit on this pier in Great Island Common, New Castle, the sky seems to wrap around you. This night, after a rain storm, a grand stage of clouds hovered over and just as the sun went down, it’s light set the sky on fire.

Before you arrive at the coast in Rye, New Hampshire, you travel through fresh and salt water marshes. In these coastal lowlands, one can find grasses growing along side tide pools. New Hampshire Geography.

2014fallsunset2

A really good year for fall colors, they seemed to last for a long time too. The skies were mostly clear, bringing out the vivid reds and oranges in the leaves. The cosmos that I planted in the spring had thick, bright green foliage for what seemed forever and then when September rolled around, it started to bloom. The plant is still blooming now and we’re having some very cold nights. I did take a lot of pictures of the hydrangea Little Lamb because it kept getting more and more saturated in pink hues. There was one evening, as the sun was setting, the sky lit up the same color as the hydrangea flowers. It was pink, pink and more pink.
